End the Roe Litmus Test
In its
1973 Roe v Wade and Doe v Bolton rulings, the U.S. Supreme Court
created a new “right” to abortion. The Court made abortion legal nationwide
through the full nine months of pregnancy, with no meaningful limitation. The
Court has used Roe even to justify partial-birth abortion. Abortion advocates have announced plans to spend $10 million a year to keep Roe v Wade the law of the land, and to block judicial nominees suspected of not supporting this goal. Roe v Wade is deeply flawed and should not be used as a litmus test for judicial office.
For this reason, the National Committee for a Human Life Amendment and the Secretariat for Pro-Life Activities, USCCB, are sponsoring a Postcard Signing Day (April 9-10) focused on the U.S. Senate, which has responsibility for confirming judicial nominees. The message: Please do not require support for Roe v Wade as a condition for determining a nominee’s fitness for judicial office.
Please contact your parish or the Official of Social Justice (719-544-9861 ext. 118) if you are interested in signing these postcards. www.EndRoe.org, a special website that will be available April 1st, will assist visitors who want to send an email message instead.
